The Government and the Law

This blog will bring you all the Mystrade fics to fill your heart's desires!

Anonymous asked: I once read a fic where Mycroft and Lestrade were spying on Sherlock and John, then they went to a pub that was ran by Lestrade's best friend and his husband Charlie and they played darts. It finished in a theatre, but I can't remember the title and I can't find it anymore. Can you help me please?

I know which fic you’re asking about, I’ve read it before and I’m trying to find it. If any of my lovely followers know what it is, please let me know, but I’ll keep searching!

Hey, just a quick update!

I won’t be on tonight due to staying with my grandmother, but I’m stacking up fics to read so when I get back tomorrow I’ll have plenty of recs!

Keep sending your favorite fics and if you go to the page you will see I have a ‘by rating’ list.

I’m working on a ‘by genre’ list and hope to have it up by Tuesday at the latest!

Not So Potluck by bwblack | G | Complete

Mummy sends out a letter detailing what she expects her guests to bring to their Christmas celebration.

Excerpt : Gregory Lestrade :

4. Your name is French. That is unfortunate. Unless, of course, it provides you with a better understanding of bread. If you could provide us with three crusty baguettes, ten buttery croissants, two crisp, flakey pie shells, and a supurb wheel of brie, I will stop setting up blind dates for Mycroft until Easter. At Easter I expect several mini brioche rolls. Procure the necessary equipment in advance.

My Review : This was a short fic, but hilarious. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. Poor Lestrade gets the worst letter I think.

A World More Full of Weeping by eva | M | Complete | Fae fic

Lestrade fulfills his Fae Family’s Marriage Debt and gets engaged to Mycroft Holmes, solving one Family’s problem—only to gain a whole slew of new ones.

Excerpt : George tended to travel in shades of pinkish-grey, with the taste of peppermint. It was something Lestrade had taken for granted, having never traveled with anyone else, not even his mum.

But Mycroft traveled in a flash of liquid-silver light and the warm scent of burning wood. Lestrade grabbed at his arm then, though it was over almost as it began, a large, dark hall materialising around them. Mycroft’s hand was cool on his own as he took in the wide, curving stairs, all deep, rich wood, leading the eye up to the high ivory walls and a graceful, gold chandelier that brightened as he looked up at it.

My review : This was my first Fae fic of any kind, but I rather enjoyed it. The imagery is wonderful and it explains everything to you, so even if you have never delved into the Fae realm you would understand perfectly what is happening.

Family by Eva | G | Complete

Prompt: “Mycroft has a sulky little brat named Sherlock, Lestrade has a BAMF little soldier named John. Their kids are fast friends, so Mycroft and Lestrade end up becoming friends too…and then things start getting serious.” Slight deviation from prompt in that this details the kids becoming friends, and doesn’t get much into “serious.”

Excerpt: “Is he your brother?” the boy asked, and Sherlock froze. “You all right?”

“Why did you ask that?” Sherlock asked fiercely. The boy’s father was getting closer. Sherlock grabbed his shoulders and dragged him further back into the hedge.

“Hey!”

“Why did you ask that?” Sherlock demanded, pushing the boy around until he could stare him in the eyes. The boy frowned darkly at him from centimeters away.

“Why did I ask what?”

“How did you know he’s my brother?”

The boy rolled his eyes. “You said he, and you said his name, and most kids don’t call their das by their names, and if he’s not searching for you then he’s probably not your friend, because a friend would be looking. But brothers aren’t nice a lot of the time. My da told me.”

Sherlock sat back and stared at him. “Correct.”

My review : This was absolutely adorable. I love kid Sherlock and John so much. I also like that Mycroft and Greg don’t have one of those, ‘falling-head-over-heels-in-love’ moments, but the attraction grows as they spend time with each other and the boys.

Thank you to sweetandsoureverything for the rec!

failcatfails asked: For "Meeting the first time" request, "At Least There's The Football" by Sheffie is a must read for every Mystradian and it fits perfectly the request.

Thank you so much for the rec!

I am in the process of reading this series now!

Here is a link to the series page!

6reen6ables6irl asked: Do you have any recs for fics in which Mycroft and Lestrade meet for the first time and their feelings for each other develop kind of slowly from there?

I have been searching for these for you and so far it seems everyone enjoys established!Mystrade. BUT I am in the process of reading a fic called Fevers that has them meeting years ago and then separating, then meeting because of Sherlock and they begin to build a relationship. it isn’t complete but I highly recommend it!

Therapeutic Touch by deklava | E | Complete

Lestrade is in the hospital, awaiting minor surgery. “Doctor” Mycroft Holmes performs some hot mouth to arse therapy.

Excerpt : “It’s been years since I donned a disguise. I forgot how amusing it is to become someone else for a while. Dr. Holmes. Hmm.”

Lestrade flopped back against the pillows, enjoying the light dizziness. “I think I might have a medical kink,” he slurred.

My review : Costumes, smut, hospital rooms, what more could you want? A really good pure smut fic with absolutely no plot.

Henry by lyricalsoul | G | Complete

Henry the Tailor (From Bespoke) gets a visitor. Things go awry.

Excerpt : I take the bundle, and unroll it. Shirts. “Hm…not yours, no? Oh, how dreadful… what happened to the buttons?”

“There was, ah… an accident. I found three of them, but the rest…” He blushes, looks down at the floor, then back up at me. “Can you fix them?”

“Hmm…” The tag inside bears my name and the distinguishing mark that belongs to… Mycroft Holmes. My best and oldest customer. “Why do you have Mr. Holmes’ shirts? Has…something untoward happened to him? Oh, no… poor chap. Such a nice man, so loyal and kind… c’est une tragédie…”

“Henry, nothing has happened to Mr. Holmes. I just want his shirts mended.”

My review : The entire story is Henry’s POV, and I loved him. Poor Lestrade having to get Mycroft’s shirts mended and oh is that a measureing tape kink thrown in? How wonderful!

Finding a Way Back by TheMuchTooMerryMaiden | M | Complete | Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence. Rape/Non-Con

When Greg Lestrade is very late home one night, Mycroft jumps to all the wrong conclusions. Is there a way back for them?

Excerpt : Before now Mycroft would not have believed that something non physical could hurt so much. All of his high flown ideas of not burdening Greg with his need for forgiveness went out of his mind on the instant that he actually thought of Greg staving off the desire to die with the thought of him.

My review : My god this was heartbreaking. I wanted to hold Lestrade and tell him it would be okay and I wanted to punch Mycroft in the face. I am so extremely happy that the author didn’t just make them kiss and make up, because Mycroft was a right arse and deserved everything that John, Sherlock, and Sally said to him.
